A New Message from Dr. Ed Booth

Two Years and Counting….

First of all, I want to thank you, our patients, for your continued trust, support, and confidence in this dental practice and in me as your dentist. Thank you to those of you who have been with us since our opening day, to those of you who found us throughout the years and continue to place your trust in us, and to the many new faces and families we have enjoyed seeing over the past months and year.

You, our family of patients, are who make this work so interesting and rewarding, and I look forward to helping you with your dental care as we move into the future.

I want to update you on where we are at this stage in the coronavirus pandemic—one that went from “15 days to flatten the curve” to nearly two full years of mandates, protocols, vaccinations, testing, mask wearing, and lock-downs.

I began my last message with, “May you live in interesting times.”

We are still living in them but, thankfully, mandates are now being lifted across the world and life is beginning to return to normal for many of us.

My practice philosophy has always centered on individual, focused patient care—meaning we see 1 to 3 patients per hour, not 4 to 5, and that will continue.

Our wonderful staff is both dedicated and highly trained, but also remains small. I thank you for your patience and understanding when, on occasion, we find it necessary to reschedule a procedure or cleaning due to a staff member being out unavoidably.

As a dental office, we are a healthcare facility and will continue to protect our staff and patients by adhering to certain protocols.

  • We still require anyone entering the dental office to wear a face mask. This is still mandated by federal law for healthcare facilities.

  • We will continue to take your temperature with a touch-free thermometer prior to entering the clinical area of the office. Please, if you have a fever or think you may have any type of contagious illness, contact our office to reschedule your appointment. Or if you aren’t sure, call us and we’ll discuss your symptoms. Many patients have reported sinus issues unrelated to a virus or sickness; if that describes you, we will tell you to keep your appointment as long as you feel comfortable lying back during the procedure.

  • We will continue our highest-level infection-control procedures, which were already in place before the pandemic began, and have always existed for our own protection and for yours.

  • The air-purifier installed in our HVAC system will remain permanently in place with the UV light being replaced at regular intervals as required by the manufacturer.

  • Public surfaces will continue to be sterilized and hand sanitizer will continue to be available in the waiting room and at the front desk.

  • Magazines will continue to be absent from our waiting room due to the inability to sanitize them. As always, we have guest WiFi available and a closed-caption TV screen for watching 24-hour local news.  

  • There is no longer a need to call or text when you arrive for your appointment, but please arrive alone without family members or friends. A parent, guardian, or caretaker bringing a patient to an appointment is the exception. Unfortunately an excessive number of people in the waiting room places a burden on our small staff and, we feel, increases the possibility of germ and illness transmission.

  • Because we are a small office, we ask that you not walk in without an appointment. If you have a dental issue but do not have an appointment, please call to schedule one so that we can set aside the time needed to address your issue. We want to give each of you the time and dedication you expect and need.

While we all have endured a lot during this pandemic, we also have learned a lot that will help us should we ever have to face something like this again in the future. I am hope that never happens and, instead, look forward to the day when the current pandemic is truly in our past.
