Jill- Office Manager
I started working in dentistry after helping choose new practice-management software for this office. It was very different from the old PM software, and so I found myself training staff members to use it.

I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill, and worked for a long time in local magazine and book publishing as an associate editor, copyeditor, book editor, and managing book editor. Our focus was in the consumer computer industry, and I was able to apply that knowledge to help advise on the software for the dental practice.

I also filled in for the front desk here occasionally and eventually became more involved in the day-to-day operations of the practice—which led to managing it full time.

What I love most about my job is being able to meet and get to know so many amazing and interesting people!

Don’t worry about what other people think; they’re probably not thinking about you anyway.

The most daring thing you’ve ever done:
Picking my way down Rendezvous Bowl—twice. For me, that wasn’t even Type II fun—meaning it still wasn’t fun when it was over!

What’s the one thing you would like for people to know about dentistry?
Dentistry is actually a branch of medicine—and your mouth and teeth are no more separate from the rest of your body than are your arms, legs, and organs. Neglecting the mouth and teeth will have a profoundly negative effect on one’s health, which is why we want patients to care for their teeth the way they would any other part of their body. The mouth really is a window into your overall health.
