Broken Tooth or Filling Out Without Pain

A broken tooth or lost filling with minor or no pain is not an immediate emergency but will still need to be addressed quickly.

Please call our office for an appointment as soon as possible. When you call, we may want to prescribe an antibiotic to prevent infection until you can be seen.

In the meantime, do the following:

  • Rinse with warm salt water.
  • Avoid biting down, chewing, or brushing hard on the affected area.
  • If needed, place temporary dental filling material where your filling is out.
  • If the edge of your tooth is rough, you can place a small amount of dental wax on the broken edge until we see you in our office.
